Olanrewaju, Pius Oladeji a Professor of Banking and Commercial Law brings to the table almost four decades of experience and expertise that span across the corporate sector, teaching, and research in the academia.
Born on the 25th of November, 1959 in Ikere-Ekiti in Old Ondo State which is now Ekiti State, South-West, Nigeria. His pursuit of academic excellence took him through Amoye Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State from 1972-1976 after which he studied privately for his A/Levels which he obtained in 1979, with this he was admitted into the University of Ife now known as Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy, 2nd Class Upper Division in 1984.
After his first degree, he was employed by the then National Bank of Nigeria as a Banking Officer from 1984-1985, he moved from banking to join G.O Ola and Co Chartered Accountants, Lagos where he worked from 1985-1986 as a Finance / Admin Officer.
In 1987, he returned to the Ivory Tower for his post-graduate studies, obtaining a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management at the University of Lagos, the same year he became an Associate Member of The Nigeria Institute of Management (AMNIM).
His work life continued with a stint at Afprint Nigeria Plc as a Bill Manager from 1989-1991, he later became the Operations Manager / Head of Corporate Finance at Security Pacific Finance from 1991-1993 during his time at the financial services company he added a feather to his nest by becoming an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (ACIBN).
Prof Olanrewaju ended his corporate sector sojourn at the pinnacle as the Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Investments Limited from 1993-96 after which a new vista of professional life began in the academia where he became a Lecturer 1 at the Ogun State University now known as Olabisi Onabanjo University on the 29th November, 1996.
Being a Lecturer did not stop him from expanding his frontiers of knowledge and academic horizon as he obtained an LL. B in Law at the Lagos State University in 2004 and went a notch higher in 2006 to add a Master in Law (LLM) at the Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2006.
In 2009 a new chapter was opened in his pursuit of lecturing and research as he joined one of Nigeria's foremost private institutions of higher learning BABCOCK University where he still lectures to date after 13 years of meritorious service to the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
After conducting original and significant research in Law and Diplomacy, he was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) by BABCOCK University signposting his diligence and commitment to research and knowledge in Banking and Commercial Law where he is an erudite Professor.
Regarding the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Prof Olanrewaju who is the current President has contributed immensely to the Institute in different capacities such as:
Prof Olanrewaju is a well-sought-after conference speaker whose Thesis, Dissertations, and book chapters are well-published in both local and international publications.
He has published articles on Banking, Economy, Finance, and Law in reputable academic and professional journals which can be accessed globally.
Prof Olanrewaju is a visionary leader whose objective and enterprising qualities have earned him a well-deserved place on the board of some notable organizations, he possesses unusual courage and demonstrates resilience in leadership. He is happily married to Mrs. C.O Olanrewaju and they are blessed with Children.
